Celebrating International Women’s Day at Sync with Rehana Khan
At Sync, we are proud to celebrate women in tech and their contributions that have helped shape our industry. This International Women’s Day, we will be highlighting the impact of women at Sync by sharing stories of those who inspire and motivate us.
In this feature, we interviewed Rehana Khan, our Head of Enterprise, about her journey, the challenges she has faced, and the advice she has for the next generation of women in the workplace.
1. What inspired you to pursue your career, and what keeps you motivated?
“What inspired me to pursue my career, and what keeps me motivated, can be summed up in two words, autonomy and collaboration.
Having the autonomy to develop ideas and turn them into valuable, impactful results is a major driving force for me. There’s something incredibly rewarding about building initiatives and projects from the ground up, knowing that my efforts are directly contributing to the growth of the business.
At the same time, collaboration is a huge motivator for me as it keeps me energised. Seeing a team’s collective efforts come together to create success is something that continually fuels my passion. As Head of Enterprise, I find great fulfillment in helping & motivating my team to reach their potential in a supportive and positive environment.”
2. Have you ever faced any barriers as a woman in the workplace? How did you overcome them?
“The lack of female leadership within the industry has been a challenge at times, but I’ve learned to navigate it by staying resilient, stepping outside my comfort zone, and speaking up. By proving my capabilities and staying focused on goals, I’ve been able to create my own path forward.”
3. What advice would you give to young women entering the workplace?
“My advice would be to trust your skills and your voice. You deserve to be where you are, you deserve to be in the room, so don’t be afraid to contribute – your perspective is valuable, and your contributions can make a real impact. I also recommend surrounding yourself with supportive people; as having a strong network of mentors and colleagues, both male and female, can make a real difference.”
4. What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
“For me, International Women’s Day is about celebrating the strengths of women and championing their voices. I think creating a space where everyone feels empowered is important. It’s also a time to acknowledge the progress we’ve made while recognising the challenges that still exist and the distance we need to go.”
5. Who is a woman—historical or personal—who has inspired you, and why?
“I’ve been incredibly lucky and grateful to have many inspiring women in my life, and each one has influenced and shaped me in different ways. The power of having a strong female circle around you cannot be underestimated, it’s invaluable! – I’m lucky to have a circle of women around me that uplift, offer guidance, and encourage.
Outside of my personal network, a woman who deeply inspires me is Jameela Jamil. Her advocacy for women’s rights and body positivity, along with her efforts to challenge stereotypes, stand out. She has been vocal about the underrepresentation of South Asian people in mainstream media, and she uses her platform to drive important change. I admire how she owns her identity, confronts cultural pressures, and shares her struggles with authenticity. She is using her influence to amplify underrepresented voices and spark vital conversations, which I truly respect.”
International women’s day is a global movement that recognises the efforts of women all around the world and will be celebrated on the 8th of March 2025.
