Celebrating International Women’s Day at Sync with Nickelle Bate

At Sync we are proud to celebrate the women who have played a key role in making the company what it is today. In this segment of our International Women’s Day series, we are spotlighting Nickelle Bate, our Administrative Services Manager

Having begun her career as a Business Administration apprentice, Nickelle soon joined Sync and progressed to become an essential part of our company.

1. What inspired you to pursue your career, and what keeps you motivated?
“From the moment I started my two-year apprenticeship in Business Administration, I knew I wanted to one day manage my own team and share my knowledge and skills with others who share the same passion. Today, I stay motivated by taking on complex challenges, witnessing the impact of my work and how it helps others. I also find inspiration in working alongside a talented team of women who are all striving toward the same goals.”

2. Have you ever faced any barriers as a woman in the workplace? How did you overcome it?
“At times, I’ve found it challenging to speak up and be ambitious without worrying about being perceived as pushy or aggressive. I’ve overcome this by embracing my voice, standing firm in my ideas, and openly discussing the barriers women face in the workplace. By doing so, I hope to contribute to creating an environment where everyone feels valued, regardless of gender.”

3. What advice would you give to young women entering the workplace?
“My advice to young women is be your own advocate, because nobody else is going to do it for you. You know who you are and what you can do, and you should never let anyone make you doubt that!”

4. What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
“International women’s day as well as any other day is the perfect opportunity to celebrate everything women have achieved so far and to also help pave a way for the women who are yet to come.”

5. Who is a woman—historical or personal—who has inspired you, and why?
“For me, my biggest inspiration has always been my mum. As the eldest of three siblings, I watched her single-handedly raise my sisters and me while working three jobs to ensure we never missed out on anything. Despite facing numerous challenges, her sheer determination has led her to build a life she truly deserves and is now running her own business in sunny Greece. Her dedication has taught me that no matter where you come from, if you work hard and stay committed, success will follow.”

International women’s day is a global movement that recognises the efforts of women all around the world and will be celebrated on the 8th of March 2025.
